"Braden was born with witch eyes: the ability to see the world as it truly is: a blinding explosion of memories, darkness, and magic. The power enables Braden to see through spells and lies, but at the cost of horrible pain.

After a terrifying vision reveals imminent danger for the uncle who raised and instructed him, Braden retreats to Belle Dam, an old city divided by two feuding witch dynasties. As rival family heads Catherine Lansing and Jason Thorpe desperately try to use Braden's powers to unlock Belle Dam's secrets, Braden vows never to become their sacrificial pawn. But everything changes when Braden learns that Jason is his father--and Trey, the enigmatic guy he's falling for, is Catherine's son.

To stop an insidious dark magic from consuming the town, Braden must master his gift—and risk losing the one he loves.:

SO. Seven words.

When. Can. I. Read. The. Next. Book?!

Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating my anticipation a little bit, but still. This book was so good!

Protagonist:

So, Braden. Yeah. About that. I think I'll be adopting him...

Braden is literally one of the best protagonists I've ever seen. He's not annoying, and he knows how to make smart decisions. I've was worried that he might be a Gary-Stu, because "Witch Eyes" -the ability, not the book- seemed a bit overpowered. And yeah, "Witch Eyes" are powerful, but the character definitely isn't perfect. And he also has to work to learn how to completely control his power. All you have to do is read the first chapter, and you can already tell that Braden isn't a Gary-Stu. Plus, the book does a really good job of showing how "Witch Eyes" can be equal parts blessing, and curse.

In short, I loved Braden's personality, and the way he was portrayed in the book. If you read 'Timekeeper', by Tara Sim, and you enjoyed having Danny as a protagonist, then you'll probably like Braden. I think he's a pretty awesome protagonist.

Plot

This is definitely more of a light read. It's pretty short, and the plot is fairly easy to understand. It's both a fun read, and interesting.

The plot is pretty straight-forward. Like I said, it's a pretty short book. I think that it was well written. It took less time to get into for me, since it was written in first-person. The plot can be compared to the blurb at the beginning of this review without many problems...

So...

This review is a bit short ( like this book ). I definitely recommend "Witch Eyes" -the book, not the ability. It's a short and is more of a quick read, but it's also gripping, interesting, and captivating. It won't take as long to read as other books, so it wastes less of your time, but it's also worth it.

Okay, maybe I'm getting to ahead of myself.

'Witch Eyes' is both fantasy and romance. It has enough romance for it to be considered a genre, but it does a good job of not overusing it. If anything, Braden's relationship with Trey also helped us get more information about Catherine. It's also paranormal.

I might have liked this book, but everything comes down to the person. It might be your kind of book, but it also might not be.

There are people out there who thinks that 'Twilight' is romantic. Do I? Definitely not. But their opinion is their opinion, and the least I can do is respect that.

Think about if short reads are your kind of thing. Think about whether the genre's sound interesting to you. Think about whether you like the summary/blurb.

Thank you for reading my book review! I hope you found this helpful! If you have any questions, or if you want to share your opinion, leave a comment below!

Bonus Time: *If you read the book*, do you think that Braden is related to Grace? They both had Witch Eyes, and she seemed pretty mysterious, as well as desperate to connect with him. Does Grace have some sort of blood relationship with Braden ( even thought she's a Lansing ) ? Comment your thoughts below.
